"The End of a Perfect Crime" follows a lieutenant who befriends Jimmy, a man planning a bank heist with accomplices. After the robbery goes wrong and Jimmy is shot, the lieutenant agrees to help him escape, but Jimmy's injury worsens and he dies before they can reach safety. The story reveals the lieutenant's moral conflict as he chooses loyalty to his friend over duty, only to have his sacrifice rendered meaningless by Jimmy's death. A second story, "Explosive!", depicts a woman's scheme involving dynamite and a timing device that ends when she is caught by authorities.
