Lash LaRue Western #34

Lash LaRue investigates a kidnapping plot involving a ransom demand for ten thousand dollars. A chief marshal's kidnapper demands the ransom money be placed in a hollow tree trunk; Lash devises a plan to follow the kidnapper and rescue the hostage. When the scheme goes awry, Lash pursues the culprits to a jailhouse, where a witness named Burgess is being held. Lash must prevent the criminals from silencing Burgess before he can testify against them.
