“The Evil Eye”

In "The Evil Eye," Konga ventures from his tropical island torment—infested with Tasmanian Bulldog ants and giant great white sharks—north to Siberia, where he encounters a disgraced Soviet scientist wielding mind control. Written by Joe Gill and illustrated with sharp precision by Steve Ditko, this issue sees Konga break free from hypnosis and turn the tables in a twist that leaves the scientist stranded on a familiar kind of island. The cover, by Dick Giordano, captures the moment with stark, dramatic flair.
