Kidpool / Spider-Boy #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 48-page one-shot carries two genuine debut milestones: it marks the first comic-book appearance of Kidpool — the child Deadpool variant who broke through to mainstream audiences in the 2024 blockbuster film Deadpool & Wolverine — and it introduces Jillian Jensen (in flashback) and her super-powered alter ego Aarchon to the printed page for the first time. Beyond those firsts, the issue consciously mirrors the beloved Spider-Man/Deadpool dynamic one generational tier lower, pairing Spider-Boy Bailey Briggs with a foul-mouthed adolescent mercenary in a structural echo that expands the Spider-Man corner of the Marvel Universe in a fresh direction. Its Christmas Day 2024 on-sale date gave it an unusual cultural footprint, and its inclusion in the Spider-Boy: Full Circle trade paperback has anchored it as a bookend to Dan Slott's foundational run on the Spider-Boy ongoing series.

Marvel announced the one-shot in November 2024, capitalizing on immediate fan enthusiasm for Kidpool's appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine, which had released earlier that summer. Writer Christopher Yost — a veteran of the X-Men animated and comics spaces — was tapped alongside a multi-artist team of Nathan Stockman, Jed Dougherty, and Chris Campana, with covers by Humberto Ramos (who also co-created Spider-Boy with Dan Slott). The book was edited by Nick Lowe under Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski and went to a December 25, 2024 street date, an uncommon Christmas Day release. The issue was subsequently collected in the Spider-Boy Vol. 4: Full Circle trade paperback, tying it into the close of Dan Slott's twenty-issue Spider-Boy run.
