Kick-Ass #9

Steve Niles and Marcelo Frusin's 2018 Image run delivers another tense chapter with this striking ninth issue. Frusin's cover art dominates with an imposing blue-toned close-up of a sunglasses-wearing figure, whose reflective lenses reveal the face of a looming threat — while the new Kick-Ass leaps into action in her teal-and-gold suit across the foreground. The composition does a masterful job of placing our hero small against a much larger danger, setting an ominous and kinetic mood that makes it hard not to want to crack the cover immediately.
