Justice League Quarterly #12

Oct 1993 · DC · 3.50 USD; 4.50 CAD; 2.50 GBP
“Negative Feedback”

In "Negative Feedback," the Justice League Quarterly #12 (1993), writer Mark Waid and artists Dan Rodriguez and Antonio Daniel introduce a team redefined by purpose: Claire Montgomery’s reorganized Conglomerate, now including Echo, Hardline (formerly Reverb), Jesse Quick, Nuklon, and Templar. Staged battles meant to simulate real threats quickly blur the line between performance and danger, testing their resolve as they face a genuine crisis when the long-dormant Amazo awakens and begins a rampage. The cover by Dan Rodriguez and Ken Branch captures the tension of a team pushed beyond the limits of their corporate script.

Under corporate sponsorship, Claire Montgomery reorganizes the Conglomerate, with former members Echo and Hardline (formally known as Reverb) and new members Jesse Quick, Nuklon and Templar. The team's first battles were staged; called "training sessions" by Claire, but thought to be real menaces by the team. They are determined to fight for honor, not glory or fame, much to Claire's -and their corporate sponsors'- dismay. Their final test, however, proves very real as Amazo, an old JLA foe, is awakened and goes on a rampage.
