Justice League of America #9

Jul 2007 · DC · 2.99 USD; 3.65 CAD
“The Lightning Saga Chapter Three Suicide”

In "The Lightning Saga Chapter Three: Suicide," the Justice League of America splits into two teams on a desperate mission across time and space: one to Gorilla City, chasing clues to Timber Wolf’s disappearance, the other to Thanagar in search of Dawnstar. As Black Canary and Mr. Terrific monitor the Legionnaires from afar, they notice a strange pattern—each carries a 31st-century lightning rod—before the group’s sudden, unexplained gathering interrupts their watch. Written by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Ed Benes, with colors by Alex Sinclair and letters by Rob Leigh, this 2007 issue blends mystery and cosmic intrigue in a pivotal chapter of the JLA’s ongoing saga. The cover, by Michael Turner and Mark Roslan, captures the tension of the moment.

Two more JLA/JSA mini teams go looking for time-lost Legionnaires: Wildcat, Vixen, Flash, and Green Lantern journey to Gorilla City, where Timber Wolf is, and Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Power Girl, and Red Arrow travel to Thanagar to locate Dawnstar. Back home, Black Canary and Mr. Terrific observe that each Legionnaire carries a 31st century lightning rod. But their surveillance of the Legionnaires breaks off when six of the seven Legionnaires gather to discuss their reason for being in the 21st century.
