In "The Kid Who Won Hawkman's Wings!", Green Arrow follows a mysterious letter to the JLA and encounters Charley Parker, a young hero now known as Golden Eagle, who's taken up Hawkman's mantle. When the Matter Master mistakes Golden Eagle for the real Hawkman and launches an attack, the Justice League intervenes to protect the city — only to be surprised by the sudden arrival of the actual Hawkman. Written by Cary Bates and illustrated by Dick Dillin with inks by Dick Giordano, colors by Carl Gafford, and letters by Ben Oda, this 1975 issue features a dynamic cover by Nick Cardy.

Green Arrow investigates a letter set to the JLA and meets Charley Parker, who is following in Hawkman's crime-fighting footsteps as Golden Eagle. When the Matter Master challenges Golden Eagle, thinking that he's Hawkman, The Justice League steps in to help. After the villain is defeated, the real Hawkman makes a surprise appearance.
