Justice League Elite #2
In "Candle in a Hurricane," Joe Kelly and Doug Mahnke deliver a tense, morally complex entry in the Justice League Elite series, where Deathstroke and Kasumi—tasked by the enigmatic Blood Brothers—are sent to Changsha to eliminate Richard Atwa. With Wolfwood as their reluctant ally, the team infiltrates a volatile region under the guise of assassins, only to uncover a chilling mission far beyond their orders: a planned genocide meant to deter future terrorism. Mahnke’s dynamic art and Nguyen’s sharp inks bring the shadows of war and deception to life, while the cover by Mahnke and Nguyen captures the weight of the mission in a single, haunting image.

'Deathstroke' and Kasumi are given their assignment by the Blood Brothers. Joined by Wolfwood, they set out after Richard Atwa, a man some members of the JLE think would be better off dead. The Blood Brothers have gained intel that Atwa is in Changsha, a nation bordering Cambodia. The JLE are to ensure that the assassination attempt is unsuccessful and to avoid any loss of innocent life. Backed by the covert team, the supposed assassins enter Changsha, where they learn that the actual goal of the Blood Brothers' mission is total genocide, as a deterrent for further terrorist activity.
