Justice League #17
The tagline says it all — "The Good, The Bad, and the Dragons!" — and Jim Cheung's cover delivers every bit of that promise, depicting Martian Manhunter and an armored Lex Luthor striding purposefully through a landscape absolutely teeming with massive, menacing dragons. There's an uneasy, almost cinematic tension between the two figures, surrounded on all sides by scaled beasts with fangs bared, making it wonderfully hard to tell whether these two are allies or simply sharing the same dangerous ground. Scott Snyder's "Old Frontier" chapter of the New Justice era looks like exactly the kind of grand, mythic adventure that keeps Justice League firing on all cylinders.
