Doc Savage meets himself in 1939 and reveals enough to enlist his help. En route to Nepal, Benson is drugged, and when he awakens, his wife and daughter have vanished from the plane. He's then thrown from the plane himself, and the Shadow (who was following him) jumps out after him. Later, Doc Savage arrives in search of Benson and confronts the Shadow over Benson's frozen corpse, which suddenly awakens.
