"Sheena—Queen of the Jungle" in "Warriors of the Bush" depicts Sheena encountering a giant ape while men in the jungle construct rafts and prepare for a dangerous expedition. A separate science fiction story depicts travelers on the planet Mercury discovering a domed glass city and a synthetic-blooded palace guard who warns them of an approaching giant. "Lightning Hawk—Stuart Taylor—Dayton" follows Black Hawk as he addresses Native American warriors about reclaiming their lands and stolen ammunition, receiving orders from Colonel Sharde to intercept guns bound for Fort Dearborn, and receiving a message to contact Wiley Wilton regarding a burned ranch in the hills.
King Ikwaba unites the African clans through force and treachery, determined to drive out the white settlers—and when Sheena and Bob Reynolds attempt to negotiate with him, they're captured and forced into a deadly trial. With Chim racing to bring word to the French fort and a daring rescue plan hinging on a football tactic Bob desperately hopes Sheena will remember, the jungle queen must fight her way through Ikwaba's warriors to survive.
In "null," Rogro steals plans for a time machine from Professor Gaylord and vanishes to Mercury in the year 4000, where he manipulates the King into believing his people require human blood—synthetic blood no longer suffices. Scott, the Professor, and Jane follow, only to find Rogro has set his sights on using them as a blood source, with Jane reserved for a later fate. The story unfolds as a high-stakes race across time and alien courts, where loyalty and courage are tested in the shadow of a twisted prophecy.
