Jughead's famously lazy philosophy gets a perfect visual showcase on this August 1973 cover, penciled by Dan DeCarlo and inked by Rudy Lapick: while a blonde girl asks Jug his position on part-time jobs for students, he lounges horizontally on a lawn chair — radio and snacks close at hand — as another teen cheerfully mows the yard behind them. The punchline response, "Horizontal!", says everything you need to know about Riverdale's most dedicated slacker, and the whole scene radiates that warm, good-humored charm the Archie line delivered so reliably at 20 cents a copy.
