Josie and the Pussycats #72
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis Giant-sized 1973 Archie offering brings a deliciously spooky turn for the band, with cover pencils by Stan Goldberg teasing "Vengeance From the Crypt" — a spine-tingling tale in which Josie apparently becomes a messenger of evil. The cover scene is genuinely unsettling: a glassy-eyed, seemingly possessed Josie advances toward her alarmed bandmates, while candles flicker in a cobwebbed stone archway behind her, prompting her friends to cry out "What's wrong with Josie?!" and "Look at her eyes!" It's a wonderfully eerie departure from the usual pop-band hijinks, and at 25 cents it packed a lot of atmosphere into one Giant issue.
