History

The Dynamite Entertainment series was born out of a October 2023 licensing agreement between Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery, which simultaneously greenlit new comics for ThunderCats, Space Ghost, The Powerpuff Girls, and several other classic Hanna-Barbera properties. Writer Joe Casey and artist Sebastián Piriz were announced as the creative team in March 2024, with the series debuting via a Free Comic Book Day issue on May 4, 2024, before the first numbered issue shipped in August of that year. Issue #4 specifically suffered a delay to physical distribution — copies arrived late to retailers — though the digital edition remained available on its scheduled November 13, 2024 release date. The arc's collected edition, Jonny Quest: Time Flies, compiling all five issues plus a cover gallery, was subsequently prepared in both hardcover and paperback formats for release in 2025.
