“One Wedding & Fifty Funerals”

Jonah Hex turns his scarred face toward the reader as a town burns behind him, a rifle slung over his shoulder and a lit match between his fingers — it's a striking, quietly menacing image from cover artists Giuseppe Camuncoli and Lorenzo Ruggiero. The story title "A Helluva Way to Die!" sets an appropriately grim Western mood, and with Palmiotti, Gray, Ross, and Schwager handling the interior, this 2006 series was clearly firing on all cylinders. A great entry point into DC's gritty frontier take on one of comics' most weathered bounty hunters.
