Phil Noto's striking cover for this April 2007 issue splits the composition down the barrel of a revolver — Jonah Hex's scarred, weathered face on one side, a determined woman's face on the other, with a lone figure silhouetted in the blood-red distance below. Writers Justin Gray and Palmiotti kick off "The Ballad of Tallulah Black Part 1," promising a story with a sharp feminine counterpoint to Hex's grim frontier world. It's a beautifully composed cover that sets a tense, dueling-perspectives tone for what looks to be a compelling two-hander.
