Joker Comics #8
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis April 1943 issue of Joker Comics serves up a wonderfully absurd scene courtesy of cover pencils by Mike Sekowsky and inks by George Klein: a lovestruck fellow has literally had his heart burst right through his chest in a "THUMP THUMP" explosion, while a bemused technician sits at a gadget-covered console and a glamorous blonde nurse in red heels coolly examines something in her hand, seemingly unfazed by the whole ridiculous spectacle. A framed diploma on the wall and a ticking clock add to the delightfully chaotic doctor's-office atmosphere. At just ten cents, this humor anthology offered wartime readers a lighthearted escape wrapped in some genuinely charming cartooning.
