The Martian Manhunter dominates this haunting 2004 cover, rendered in ghostly green with blazing red eyes and wearing a fedora and trenchcoat as though stepping straight out of a noir thriller. Ron Garney's cover art gives J'onn J'onzz an unsettling, semi-transparent quality — a figure who seems both present and phantom, perfectly suited to the "Manhunt!" banner splashed across the bottom. With Chuck Austen writing and Garney on art, this installment of "The Pain of the Gods" promises a compelling focus on one of the League's most quietly powerful members.
