Issue seven of Marvel's 2004 Inhumans run opens with a cover that feels more like a woodblock print than a superhero splash — a solitary, tattooed Inhuman figure strides forward from a deep navy background, enveloped by sweeping gold arabesques that evoke both royal pageantry and something quietly ominous. The two-tone design by cover penciler Adrian Alphona and inker Craig Yeung is strikingly elegant, letting the decorative flourishes do the dramatic heavy lifting.
