I, Vampire #14
Part of DC's New 52 line, I, Vampire #14 arrives in January 2013 with one of the most viscerally unsettling covers of the run — a rotting, wide-mouthed vampire creature fills the frame, its pale glowing eyes and massive exposed fangs lurching toward the viewer while pale hands pry its decaying face open from either side. Andrea Sorrentino's cover work, rendered against a deep crimson background, captures the grotesque horror at the heart of this series with genuine craft. Writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and artist Sorrentino continue their collaboration on "Winterlong," and if this cover is any indication, the darkness here runs very, very deep.
