An anthology of twelve true love stories. "The Stopped Watch" follows a woman on a mountain outing with three friends who slips and nearly falls down a hill, only to be caught by a man named Robert. After he carries her home, they develop a romantic connection; however, Robert's jealousy the next morning over her meeting with her boss threatens their budding relationship until he realizes she was actually with Robert the previous evening. Another story depicts a woman named Alice who arranges a date for Thursday at seven o'clock, only to become anxious about her appearance and confide her insecurities to her mother and friend Ginny, worrying she is too fat to be fun.
