In "Den onde roboten," William McLaughlin stumbles upon the forgotten ruins of the Followers of the Light Sanctuary and a half-built giant robot. Determined to claim its power, he completes the machine, hunts down the other three Sanctuary robots, and destroys them one by one before stealing gold and cash to fund a life of luxury. When the pilots of the destroyed robots—Ilongo, Richard, and Genji—appeal to the Fantastic Four for help, the heroes track William to Tokyo, where they confront the massive robot in a desperate bid to stop him. As the battle reaches its climax, William activates the self-destruct sequence, and the robot explodes—just as he’s captured by the pilots.
