Marvel's favorite interdimensional waterfowl takes a pounding on this November 1978 cover, where a menacing soldier in military fatigues lands a haymaker that sends Howard tumbling upside-down in a blur of feathers and red coat. A red-haired woman in blue and a pair of onlookers in the background round out this chaotic bar-fight scene, rendered with dynamic energy by cover penciler Gene Colan and inker Al Milgrom. Titled "Cooking With Gas," this issue brings together writer Marv Wolfman, writer Mary Skrenes, and artist Carmine Infantino for what the cover itself cheerfully promises are "new heights of insanity" and "new depths of insight" — which is honestly a perfect way to sell a Howard the Duck comic.
