Howard the Duck #12 finds Marvel's most existentially beleaguered waterfowl straitjacketed and pinned against a cold stone wall, wide-eyed and clearly at someone's mercy — while taunting speech bubbles needle him about "the good old days" before they "put him away," teasing the story title "Duck's Head Soup!" Gene Colan's cover pencils and Tom Palmer's inks give the scene a wonderfully unsettling energy, blending dark comedy with genuine menace. Steve Gerber's "Mind-Mush!" promises another sharp, satirical ride for the duck who remains, as ever, trapped in a world he never made.
