Few images in 1997 comics capture the sheer casual charm of this "Local Hero Part Three of Four" cover: Tommy Monaghan — cigarette dangling, shades on, beer in hand — sitting at a crowded bar alongside a fully costumed Green Lantern, both looking completely at ease amid a roomful of regulars. John McCrea's linework nails the relaxed, pub-worn atmosphere, with empty mugs, a full ashtray, and a bowl of snacks rounding out the scene. Garth Ennis and McCrea's run on Hitman had a talent for mixing the mundane with the superheroic, and this cover sums up that winning combination beautifully.
