Heroes #5

From DC's Milestone imprint comes Heroes #5, subtitled "Deadly Reunion," with a cover by ChrisCross that throws a full squad of characters into the fray. A massive, otherworldly sphere looms on the left while a diverse team of heroes — including a figure in pink bracing for confrontation and a heavily armored antagonist wielding a large weapon — face off across a dramatic arched structure crackling with energy. The tension between the assembled forces makes this September 1996 issue feel like a genuine pressure cooker, and with Wayne, Fry, and Garcia listed across the masthead, the creative team is clearly firing on all cylinders.
