The ongoing Hellverine series launched in December 2024, the direct result of fan and retailer enthusiasm that had already pushed a crossover appearance into a four-issue mini-series, a Marvel Legends action figure, and ultimately a full ongoing — a growth arc Percy himself compared to the trajectory of Cosmic Ghost Rider. Percy, who had been writing both Wolverine and Ghost Rider simultaneously at Marvel, co-created the Hellverine concept with artist Geoff Shaw in the 2023 'Ghost Rider/Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance' crossover; for the ongoing he was joined by Italian-Canadian artist Raffaele Ienco, known for his work on Star Wars: Darth Vader, bringing a horror-inflected visual sensibility to the series. Issue #7 falls within the book's second story arc, later collected as Hellverine Vol. 2: Hell Hulk Unleashed (Penguin Random House, 2026), which collects issues #6–10.
