Hellverine #6
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeHellverine #6 (May 14, 2025) marks the first full appearance of Hell Hulk, a demon original to Benjamin Percy's expanding infernal mythology — a horned, rage-infectious creature that puts a supernatural spin on one of Marvel's oldest rivalries, the Wolverine/Hulk dynamic that dates back to Wolverine's debut in Incredible Hulk #180. The issue deepens the Pentangle-and-Project-Hellfire world-building Percy has seeded across the ongoing, demonstrating that the Hellverine franchise has grown into a genuine corner of the Marvel Universe rather than a one-off novelty character. By casting Akihiro (Daken) as the sole defender against a demon whose very presence drives humans to murderous rage, Percy continues his sustained project of redefining Wolverine's son as a horror-inflected antihero with his own distinct rogues gallery, a creative accomplishment that distinguishes this ongoing from the mini-series that preceded it.

The Hellverine ongoing — of which issue #6 is a part — grew organically out of accumulated fan demand: Percy and artist Geoff Shaw introduced the Hellverine concept in the 2023 'Ghost Rider/Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance' crossover, a mini-series followed, and when that sold through strongly enough, Marvel greenlit the ongoing with Raffaele Ienco replacing Julius Ohta as series artist starting with the ongoing's December 2024 launch. Hell Hulk was announced on February 13, 2025 via an official Marvel press release, with Percy himself describing the character's conceits and Ienco contributing the creature design — a design Ienco's detailed sheet was then repurposed as a 1:10 incentive variant cover for the issue itself. Editor Mark Basso oversaw the title, and colorist Bryan Valenza and letterer VC Travis Lanham rounded out the regular creative team.

- First full appearance of Hell Hulk, a brand-new demon original to the Hellverine series, designed visually by series artist Raffaele Ienco.
- Hell Hulk is depicted as a giant red horned demon who emits 'infectious waves of infernal power,' driving people worldwide to murderous rage — connecting his threat to the shadow government body known as Project Hellfire and its underground Pentagon facility, the Pentangle.
- Written by Benjamin Percy with interior art and inks by Raffaele Ienco, colors by Bryan Valenza, letters by VC Travis Lanham, and editing by Mark Basso.
- Main cover by Kendrick 'Kunkka' Lim; variant cover by Chris Campana; 1:10 incentive variant is Ienco's Hell Hulk character design sheet.
- Released May 14, 2025 (cover-dated July 2025); 25 story pages; rated Parental Advisory; UPC 75960621157900611.
- Marvel and multiple outlets explicitly framed the issue as a hellish riff on the classic Wolverine/Hulk rivalry, intentionally echoing Wolverine's own debut as a Hulk antagonist in Incredible Hulk #180.
- The issue is part of the second story arc of the ongoing series (Hellverine Vol. 2, later collected as 'Hell Hulk Unleashed,' 112 pages, January 2026).
- Hell Hulk's in-story origin — created by the villain Severith and nearly destroyed by Mephisto — ties the new character directly into the Bagra-ghul/Mephisto mythology Percy established from the 'Weapons of Vengeance' crossover onward.
