Hellblazer #37 arrives in January 1991 with a haunting painted cover by Kent Williams — a pale, semi-clothed figure dangles limply against a backdrop of vast, blood-red wings, the muted earthy tones giving the image a raw, almost Old Master quality. The composition evokes something between a fallen angel and a sacrificial figure, perfectly in keeping with the series' mature, unflinching tone. Writer Jamie Delano and artist Steve Pugh bring their unsettling vision to "Man's Work," and Williams' cover sets a deeply atmospheric stage for whatever lies within.
