“Joyride Part III”

Bathed in hellish amber light, this November 2007 Vertigo entry finds John Constantine gripping a heavy chain attached to a massive, menacing dog, while a decayed hand reaches up from the ground nearby — all framed against a burning sky and a shadowy house. Lee Bermejo's cover work is viscerally atmospheric, placing Constantine in a scene that bristles with unease and barely-contained danger. Andy Diggle and Leonardo Manco continue their run with "Joyride Part III," and if this cover is any indication, things are about to get considerably worse for Britain's favorite occult troublemaker.
