“Staring at the Wall Conclusion”

A massive, decayed stone visage dominates Tim Bradstreet's unsettling cover, its hollow eye socket framing a circular sigil — ringed with Latin text — that reveals a glowing-eyed, skull-like demonic face within. To the left, a dark-haired woman peers out from the stone's shadow, while a disheveled, fair-haired man — unmistakably John Constantine, cigarette in hand — stands battered in the lower right foreground. Mike Carey and Marcelo Frusin bring the "Staring at the Wall" arc to its conclusion in this April 2004 Vertigo issue, and the cover alone makes clear that Constantine has been through something harrowing to get here.
