Paul Pope's five-part Vertigo series continues with this second issue, its bold yellow cover showcasing a dark-haired woman in a tank top and black jeans gripping a motorcycle handlebar, her expression urgent and confrontational. The lower half of the cover is designed like a transit boarding pass — complete with barcodes, alphanumeric codes, and a profile portrait of a male figure — giving the whole package a distinctly near-future, underground-traveler aesthetic. Pope's clean, confident linework (he handles pencils, inks, writing, and coloring here, alongside Lee Loughridge's color contributions) makes this 1999 Vertigo release feel genuinely unlike anything else on the shelf.
