Hawkman #16
This November 1987 issue puts Hawkwoman front and center — literally tumbling through a surreal, neon-drenched limbo alongside the spectral Gentleman Ghost, both figures caught in a disorienting freefall against a vivid pink-and-green gridded void crackling with bursts of energy. Richard Howell and Dennis Janke deliver a wonderfully dynamic cover that conveys the strangeness of the dimension these two are trapped in, with Hawkwoman's wings splayed and the Ghost's white-suited form rendered in stark contrast to the psychedelic chaos surrounding them. Dan Mishkin's story, "The Eye of the Storm!," promises exactly the kind of otherworldly adventure the cover so vividly teases.
