“Wrong Turn”

Baron Weirwulf's Haunted Library reaches its 41st issue with a genuinely unsettling Charlton cover by Steve Ditko — a skeletal, green-robed specter looms large while a terrified man in a blue suit is seized by a bony, clawed hand, with a sequence of framed panels between them hinting at a doomed figure's repeating fate. The tagline "Everybody's Gotta Die Someplace!" sets the darkly sardonic tone that made this series a favorite of horror anthology fans in 1979. Inside, writer and artist Pete Morisi brings that same eerie energy to "Wrong Turn," a story that sounds like it takes a very bad road indeed.
