Haunted #13

Charlton's Haunted #13 from 1973 delivers a wonderfully unsettling cover by Steve Ditko, featuring a skeletal, green-robed Death figure looming over a terrified man while a cascade of illustrated panels shows the same suited figure moving through different everyday scenes — snapshots of a life seemingly being shuffled like cards in Death's bony hands. The story promised inside, "Wrong Turn," hints that fate may have caught up with someone who took one step too many in the wrong direction. At just 20 cents, this is a fine slice of Charlton's horror anthology tradition, with Ditko's distinctive linework giving the Grim Reaper a genuinely eerie, otherworldly presence.
