The rest of Team Black are able to reach Victor as Black-1 forgives him for the loss of her eye and Black-2 turns out to be alive, merely wounded from Victor's earlier attack. Reff now believes himself to be a sacred figure destined to discover the Forerunner base and kills Thon for not believing in him, but the Monitor kills Reff. The Spartans drive off the Monitor but a Covenant fleet has already been dispatched and they likewise crash on the planet because of the Monitor's pulse. The four Spartans prepare to combat the survivors.
