History

Editor Jordan D. White brought the series to Cavan Scott — New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: The High Republic — with an editorial directive to resurrect Gwen Stacy within a Gwenpool context, a brief Scott accepted because the character's premise (a comic-book-obsessed girl living inside a comic) gave him a natural emotional and metafictional framework to explore. Scott has publicly noted that he immersed himself in every prior Gwenpool run before scripting, from Christopher Hastings' original series through the Infinity Comics appearances, to maintain tonal continuity. Stefano Nesi, whose previous comics work was primarily for DC on Batman titles, made his Marvel debut with this series; colorist Matt Milla and letterer Ariana Maher rounded out the creative team. The issue shipped May 14, 2025, with a cover date of July 2025, and went to a second printing — also noted by Bleeding Cool's print-watch tracking — indicating healthy retailer demand at launch.
