The contrast between her haunted, expressionistic face and those creeping dark shapes gives the whole composition a dread that feels genuinely literary rather than shock-horror. Writer Kurtis Wiebe and artist Rossmo were clearly building something atmospheric and strange with this 2011 Image/Shadowline series.
