A story told in flashback revealing the origins of Volthoom, the First Lantern, including how he first encountered the Guardians billions of years ago, and how he became the first to wear a power ring. When the power of the ring corrupted him, the Guardians created the first Green Lanterns to stop him and imprison him. Billions of years later, he escaped to battle the current Green Lantern Corps, only to be seemingly killed by Nekron. However, being immortal, Volthoom finds that even Nekron cannot kill him permanently.
