Green Lantern Annual #5

Part of DC's 1996 "Legends of the Dead Earth" annual event, this Green Lantern installment imagines a far-future world where the legacy of the ring endures long after Earth is gone. Bill Willingham's cover presents a striking tableau: a glowing green figure and a red-plumed, bird-like warrior face off in the foreground, while a massive, ancient stone giant looms to the right and a winged alien creature hovers menacingly in the upper left against a star-filled void. With Chuck Dixon writing and Enrique Alcatena handling both pencils and inks on the interior, it's a visually inventive take on what the Green Lantern myth might become at the end of all things.
