History

Dynamite Entertainment announced the series in August 2024, with writers Alex Segura and Henry Barajas and artist Federico Sorressa attached from the outset. Segura, known for noir-inflected prose novels such as Secret Identity and comic work on Dick Tracy, brought an explicit pulp-and-noir sensibility to the project; he and Barajas had apparently been developing Green Hornet concepts together for some time before Dynamite approached them with this crossover concept. The creative team deliberately set the story in the mid-1960s — drawing on the atmosphere of the Green Hornet's iconic television era while layering in a detective-noir aesthetic — rather than crafting a reimagining or origin story. Issue #4, released April 9, 2025, was solicited in the February 2025 Previews catalog and features cover art by Francesco Francavilla (Cover A), Jae Lee & June Chung (Cover B), Jonathan Case (Cover C), and Jacob Edgar (Cover D).
