The series was conceived when Dynamite approached writer Alex Segura, who immediately recruited co-writer Henry Barajas as a collaborator, with artist Federico Sorressa rounding out the creative team. Segura framed the project publicly as a love letter to pulp heroics rather than a continuity-heavy reimagining, deliberately setting the story in the 1960s to draw on the atmosphere of the Green Hornet's television run — including Bruce Lee's Kato — while layering it with neo-noir visual and narrative textures.
