History

The series was announced in August 2024, with Dynamite tapping novelist and comics writer Alex Segura — whose crime fiction and prior comics work on Dick Tracy and Black Ghost had established his noir credentials — to co-write alongside Henry Barajas, with whom Segura had been developing Green Hornet concepts independently before the project came together. Artist Federico Sorressa, a relative newcomer to the American market, was chosen for interior art, bringing what reviewers described as charcoal-textured, semi-realistic linework suited to the period setting. The creative team deliberately framed the series not as a reimagining or origin story but as an in-continuity 1960s adventure, drawing on the visual and tonal vocabulary of the Green Hornet's 1966 television era while layering in a neo-noir detective mystery structure. Dynamite had published Green Hornet comics since 2009 and had featured Miss Fury in crossover titles since 2012 and in her own ongoing series beginning in 2013, giving the publisher a deep institutional familiarity with both characters before this miniseries was commissioned.
