Green Hornet Comics #39

This May 1948 Harvey Comics issue puts the Green Hornet right in the thick of it — crouching atop an enormous oversized die while a gang of armed criminals huddles below, confidently plotting his downfall. His masked partner Kato lurks nearby, rope at the ready, as the Hornet's speech bubble makes clear the crooks are about to deeply regret their confidence. Al Avison's cover art crackles with pulpy energy, and the tie-in note to the ABC Network radio program is a neat reminder of just how much the Green Hornet dominated popular entertainment in 1948.
