The story follows David Gold, a con man and former criminal who gets pulled back into the underworld of Cleveland's seedy underbelly, blending noir-style dialogue with Bendis's signature kinetic artwork. This edition collects all 12 issues of the series along with bonus material, presenting a formative work from the writer who would later define modern Marvel Comics with titles like Ultimate Spider-Man and Daredevil.
"Original Short" is a gripping noir tale from Brian Michael Bendis, marking his first full-length work in the Goldfish series. Told in stark black and white, it follows David Gold—known as Goldfish—as he returns to a city he left a decade ago, now ruled by his ex-lover and crime boss, Lauren Bacall, in a world where the Club Cinderella is both a den of vice and a fortress of secrets. Bendis handles every aspect of the story, from writing and art to inks and letters, with his distinctive, raw style shaping a tense, atmospheric journey into a past that refuses to stay buried.
