Dell's Ghost Stories delivers exactly what its tagline promises — "Strange Tales You Cannot… Must Not Believe!" — with this October 1972 issue featuring a cover by Frank Springer that earns every word of that warning. A terrified man recoils in a doorway, hat flying and mouth open in a full-throated scream, as an enormous skeletal figure looms over him, one bony hand dangling a heavy iron key. It's a wonderfully unsettling image that sets the mood perfectly for the interior tale, "A Room With A Dreadful Secret," brought to life by artist Werner Roth and inker Frank Springer.
