Dell's Ghost Stories delivers exactly what its tagline promises — "Strange Tales You Cannot… Must Not Believe!" — and this June 1966 issue wastes no time making good on that claim. Frank Springer's cover depicts a terrified man recoiling in a doorway, a skeletal hand looming large in the foreground and a massive skull hovering ominously behind him, his anguished scream rendered in bold yellow letters across the ghoulish green background. With an interior tale titled "A Room with a Dreadful Secret," this 12-cent Dell chiller is a genuinely unsettling snapshot of mid-sixties horror comics at their most atmospheric.
