As the group investigates a dangerous energy whirlpool in the desert, Roxy and the ghostly Cassandra uncover a trap set by Lynch, who’s been manipulated by the enigmatic Trance. Written by Jan Strnad and illustrated by Sean Shaw with inks by Kevin Nowlan, this 1998 Image Comics issue features vibrant colors by Joe Chiodo, Martin Jimenez, and Wildstorm FX, and dynamic lettering by Bill Oakley, with a cover by Sean Shaw and Kevin Nowlan.

Freefall has been "killed" in a battle at the local club and Lynch puts her body in stasis to keep it artificially alive. Roxy discovers that her spirit is still hanging around and she meets Cassandra, another gen-active who committed suicide and cannot pass on to the afterlife. When the Gen kids are called to investigate an energy whirlpool in the desert, Roxy and Cassandra scout ahead and discover it is a death trap set for her friends by Lynch who is being mind controlled by the villainous Trance.
