The Geiger ongoing series (volume 2, 2024–present) was launched through Ghost Machine, the creator-owned cooperative media company that Geoff Johns co-founded at New York Comic Con in October 2023, with Ghost Machine publishing through Image Comics. Johns had originally conceived the character and post-nuclear world during the final stages of his and Gary Frank's DC work on Doomsday Clock, and the pair launched the first Geiger six-issue miniseries at Image in 2021 — their first creator-owned collaboration. The second ongoing volume, in which issue #11 falls, grew out of the Ghost Machine launch and the Geiger: Ground Zero two-issue prequel (late 2023), with the character of Ashley Arden planned for introduction from the very start of the ongoing, per Johns's own public statements. Letterer Rob Leigh and colorist Brad Anderson — both Ghost Machine exclusives — complete the core creative team.
